I decided to take this course during my concurrent BS/MS semester in Electrical Engineering to help with research I was doing in engineering education. This course examines current and past multidisciplinary research methods to examine the impact of design on humans, environments, and social contexts. A case study was assigned to analyze the different research methods used in various industries and environments.

Case Study: The Good Kitchen
Our team chose to do a case study on The Good Kitchen. This particular case study is well known and focuses on social design. The City of Holstebro in Denmark reached out to innovation agency, Hatch & Bloom, to redesign the city's meal service system for elderly citizens. The methods used by Hatch & Bloom were ethnographic research; using the mixed method, and participatory research; using co-creation techniques. The project was successful seeing a 500% increase in meal orders in the first week. Download the link below for the full case study.
